College of Optometry earns accreditation
Western University of Health Sciences’ College of Optometry has been granted accreditation by the Accreditation Council on Optometric Education (ACOE), retroactive to Feb. 6, 2013. The College of Optometry was granted the accreditation classification of “Accredited,” which indicates the program has no deficiencies or weaknesses that compromise the educational effectiveness of the total program. ACOE evaluates professional optometric degree programs through an on-site visit at least once every eight years, and all programs are reviewed annually through the annual report process. Accreditation by the ACOE is not necessarily for a specific period of
time, since it is subject to continual review.

WesternU Seeks Subjects for Clinical Study
Have you or someone you know been diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis? Drs. Yumori, Finley, Gordon, and Trinh are conducting a study to investigate how rheumatoid arthritis affects your eyes. We will do an extensive evaluation of the front part of your eye, evaluate your joints, and pay for blood samples to measure the levels of inflammation in your body. We will explain all of your results and share recommendations on how to keep your eyes healthy. Participation takes about 2 hours and you will be compensated $25 at the end of the study. Please contact the study coordinator at 909-706-3899 or firstname.lastname@example.org to schedule an appointment.
