Ivy Tuason is the Assistant Dean for Global Health and Innovation for the College of Graduate Nursing at Western University of Health Sciences in Pomona, California, USA. She has been a nurse for over 20 years, and teaching in academia for over 15 years. She is a board certified Family Nurse Practitioner. Her clinical expertise include hematology, oncology and chronic disease management. She held various administrative positions in hospital and academic settings and has wide experiences in new project development and implementation.
She has a PhD in Nursing with a concentration Community and Global Health. She has undertaken a diversity of fieldwork globally, running clinics in Haiti, Nicaragua, and Vietnam, and training community health workers in the Philippines. Locally she has worked with vulnerable populations in the city of Pomona, focusing on community engagement, nutrition, wellness, and chronic disease management. She is actively involved with Standing Voice in Tanzania whose mission is to promote social inclusion and well-being of people with Tanzania. Additionally, in Nepal, she works with Healing with Children in providing corrective and foot surgeries and building relationship with Nepal Orthopedic Hospital to provide professional and leadership development and capacity building among Nepalese Registered Nurses.
Her research include high-risk sexual behaviors among youths globally; health perceptions of people with albinism; and nutrition and wellness among ethnic minorities in the US.
