CADRE has access to the University’s two animal vivaria for research (a third vivarium will be built by the University in 2008). The first vivarium consists of six rooms, which can house up to six laboratory animal species. The second one consists of seven animal rooms. The combined facilities can house mice, rats, shrews, chicken and prairie chicken, and naked mole rats. Full time staff at the animal facilities are available to assist in animal care and research needs. These facilities are fully recognized for animal studies funded by NIH.
