Computing Resources
WesternU's Computing Resources Web site describes all the services for WesternU employees and students currently supported by IT including Banweb(online student/employee records system), Blackboard, and Online tutorials.
Blackboard
Blackboard is a course management system used to create and administer online instruction for its distance and on-campus courses. It enables faculty to disseminate course content and provide learning experiences over the Web anytime, anywhere, without HTML experience. Blackboard's online communication options (email, real-time chat area, asynchronous discussion boards, digital file exchange) enhance interaction among students and instructors. Faculty can administer online quizzes, surveys, and test banks to help automate the assessment and evaluation of student progress. For more information, see How to use Blackboard for Course Management(Available On-Campus Only).
Course Evaluation Software
CoursEval is a web-based software product that will allow us to evaluate courses and faculty online, thereby replacing the paper process/bubble sheet approach. See How to use CoursEval for more information.
E-Portfolio Software
Open Source Portfolio (OSP) is an e-portfolio system that stores digital records of personal profile information and files of collected achievements. These files and information can be manipulated by owner of the ePortfolio and viewed by the people and organizations to whom the owner has granted access. See E-Portfolio for more information (Available On-Campus Only).
