2008 Commencement Exercises at the Pasadena Civic Auditorium
- College of Allied Health Professions - Thursday, May 15, 2008 - 9:30 a.m.

Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine
Activity Sites:
- The administration, faculty and stage guests should enter through the Artist’s Entrance located on the West side of the auditorium.
- The Graduates should enter through the Auditorium Main entrance and proceed to the Gold Room on the second floor.
- Line up for the processional in the Gold Room at 8:00 a.m. .
- The general public and graduates will enter through the Auditorium Main entrance.
- View the instructional video for family hooders in Room 214 in the Conference Building or on the Commencement 2008 website.
- Men’s Chorus Room will be used for receiving and returning the faculty academic attire.
- The Commencement Exercises will take place in the AUDITORIUM.
- Processional starts promptly at 9:30 a.m.

Seating:
- The seating in the Auditorium is arranged in three levels. Each level is divided into sections: The Floor Level, the Loge and the Balcony).
- The floor level contains five sections noted Sections A, B, C, D & E.
- Graduates will be seated in Section C.
- Family and friends may be seated in the floor sections A, B, D, E and the Balcony.
- Loge sections A-E are reserved only for those designated to be Family Hooders (two per graduate).
Presentation of the Classes:
At the prompt from Dr. Adams, the candidates for the Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree will stand while Dr. Pumerantz confers the degree "en masse." Diplomas will then be presented.
Doctoral Graduates
During this phase of the ceremony, all graduates are to be seated except for those approaching the stage to receive their diploma. At the prompting of the usher, the first row will approach the stage and stand in front of the steps on the far right side of the stage. The ceremony will move from stage right to stage left (as you face the stage). Each graduate will be called to the stage in alphabetical order. A faculty member will be positioned at the stage steps to check the alphabetical order of the graduates before they go on stage.
Graduates:
- Go to the diploma table, shake hands with the Dean and receive the diploma from the President.
- Walk across the stage to the Hooding table.
- Turn around (your back to the Hooder), stand on the “X” marked on the floor, remove your cap.
- The Hooder will place the Master's or Doctoral hood on you.
- Move your tassel from right to left.
- Immediately leave the stage. (The next grad’s name is called as soon as the hood is placed on you).
- Return to your seat. Family Hooders return immediately to their seats.
- All graduates should remain in their seats until the end of the ceremony.
Family Hooder Floor Passes:
Each graduate will be given two floor passes (with your name on it) for your Family Hooders. Please remember to give the floor passes, with your name on it, to your Family Hooders before Commencement. Important: Remind your Family Hooder that they will need the Family Hooder Floor Pass to participate in the Family Hooding Ceremony. Also, if you have purchased your own academic hood, remember to give it to your family hooder before the ceremony. If you did not purchase a hood, one will be provided to your family member on stage.
The processional will enter the Auditorium through the Foyer and march down the left center aisle towards the stage. The graduates will be seated in Section C.
Recessional:
The participants will exit using the center aisle.
Class photos will be taken immediately following the ceremony in the Gold Room. The College Marshal will lead you to a designated area in the Gold Room. Please stay in line during the recessional to the auditorium.
Diplomas:
Please Note:
- Official Diplomas will NOT be issued until the conclusion of the Commencement Ceremony.
- You may obtain your diploma (if available) in Room 212-214 of the Convention Center.
- Following the photo session, you may join your family for family photos.
- All hoods must be returned to the designated location in Room 212-214 of the Convention Center.
- Yearbooks will be mailed or available in University Student Affairs in late August.
- Commencement photos will be forwarded to the publisher to be included in the yearbook.
Photography - Bob Knight:
- Bob Knight Photography will be taking photos with graduates and their families after the ceremony in the East Plaza.
- The graduates are contacted by Bob Knight with information on how to order their photos.
