Initial Setup
- Dial into the Audix system. When dialing on campus, use 5399; off campus, use (909) 469-5399.
-
Each time you dial in, you will be asked to dial your extension and press the # key. Note: If you are dialing from your own extension anytime you check voicemail, you do not have to enter your extension. Audix "knows" when you are dialing from your own extension, so all that is required is you press the # key.
- You will then be asked to enter a password followed by the # key. If this is your first time logging in, simply press the # key and you will be logged in. Once logged in, the first thing you will do is record your name. Simply state your first and last name when Audix prompts you. This is not a greeting!
- After you have recorded your name, you will set up a password.
- Passwords must be at least 4 digits.
- Passwords can not be sequential like 1234, or 9876
- As with all passwords, never give it out to anyone else. NOT EVEN Tech Support Personnel!
Voice Mail Greetings
Once you've set up your mailbox, you will be presented with 3 options from Audix:
- Press 1 to record messages.
- Press 2 to get messages that were left for you.
- Press 3 to administer your greetings.
Press option 3 to set up your greeting. Audix will tell you that the system greeting is active for all calls. You may record one greeting for all calls or have separate greetings for internal calls: busy and out of office, external calls and out of hours calls. The preferred method for greetings is to three to five greetings recorded; one for each call type.
Press option 4 to administer call types.
Defining Call Types the First Time
- Press one of the following:
- Differentiate internal/external calls.
- Differentiate busy/no-answer calls.
- Press one of the following:
- Differentiate out-of-hours calls.
- Make no distinction between prime time and out-of-hours calls.
Press 1 to record your first greeting. This one will be for internal calls. Since all WesternU employees know that you work here, stating where you are calling is not necessary. A good example of an internal message for busy and out of office would be like these:
- You have reached the desk of John Farmer in the College of Pharmacy. I'm currently on the other line. Please leave a message and I'll return your call as soon as possible."
- "You have reached the desk of John Farmer in the College of Pharmacy. I'm currently out of the office. Please leave a message and I'll return your call when I return."
Resetting Passwords and Changing your Recorded Name

- Press 5 to change your voicemail password or your recorded name, then
- Press 4 to change your password.
- Press 5 to change your recorded name.
