Course Name: Update in Oral Cancer Screening

Presentation Summary:
The oral cancer screening examination technique will be reviewed in detail including the necessary armamentarium and important locations for visualization/palpation. Common oral lesions and head/neck swellings observed in dental practice will be presented, along with helpful recognition/diagnostic strategies. Attendees will learn to recognize when additional testing and/or specialty referrals are indicated. Adjunctive and biopsy techniques will be reviewed including tissue reflectance, tissue fluorescence, toluidine blue dye, cytology (i.e., smear and brush cytology) and conventional scalpel biopsy. Oral lesion management strategies will be discussed throughout the presentation. For more information on this course click here.
