Health and Human Services

All of the programs below are Federal Government loans which are administered through the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS). Per (HHS) criteria, parents’ income must be considered when making an award regardless if the student is independent due to marriage, age, or tax filing status.


Loans for Disadvantaged Students

Provides long-term, five-percent interest loans to eligible osteopathic medical students from disadvantaged backgrounds, subject to fund availability.  For more information please contact a financial aid counselor in the financial aid office.


Primary Care Loans

For eligible osteopathic medical students and subject to availability of funds. Provides long-term, five-percent fixed interest rate, loan amounts vary, depending on financial need and federal allocation. Students must provide income information and sign a contract to practice in primary care until the loan is paid in full.  For more information please contact a financial aid counselor in the financial aid office.


Health Professions Student Loan

For eligible dental, optometry, podiatric, pharmacy and vet med students and subject to availability of funds. The HPSL offers a 5% fixed interest rate, and is interest free while attending school and residency. Students must provide income information in order to be considered for the HPSL program.
