Our IPE Model

We are planning to include the following elements in our IPE Model:

• It will be a required, comprehensive program for our health professional students.
• There are 9 (nine) health care disciplines: medicine, optometry, dental medicine, podiatric medicine, veterinary medicine, physical therapy, physician assistant, nursing and pharmacy.
• The planned IPE curriculum will be threaded and integrated into the respective professional programs.
• The full curriculum will likely include activities such as IPE clinical scenarios with our standardized patients (SP) program; IPE team based patient safety and disaster management activities; patient care experiences at our new Interprofessional Diagnostic Suites at our new on campus Patient Care Center and documentation of IPE experiences at outside clinical rotations (starting in the 2010 to academic year 2011).
