Fair IPE
Approximately 160 students and preceptors representing most of
WesternU's nine colleges provided free screenings for blood pressure, blood
sugar, diabetes, dental, osteopathic manipulative therapy, vision, foot exams,
body mass index calculation, and more. For the first time, the Student
Government Association (SGA) and the American Pharmacists Association - Academy
of Students (APhA-ASP) are combining resources to co-host the health fair,
along with help from Target. APhA-ASP is receiving financial support from a
Target Campus Grant. March, 2013

WesternU teaches
Native American students about diabetes, health careers
The
WesternU portion of their summer curriculum emphasized diabetes education and
prevention, led by the Western Diabetes Institute. WesternU’s WDI is a
patient-centered integrated practice unit dedicated to diabetes and its adverse
effects, wherein assessments and plans of care are developed using a team
approach.

Writing
Cases for IPE
Rooted in principles of PBL, this workshop focuses on writing cases designed to
facilitate student learning and the development of clinical reasoning skills.
The workshop will emphasize IPE, and selected cases may be utilized as
part of the IPE curriculum.
