Who can use Ask A Librarian?

The Ask A Librarian service is available to members of the Western University community.


What kinds of questions may I ask?

The service is intended to provide answers to short and brief questions. Those seeking more extensive research assistance will be asked to call the library at (909) 469-5323 or 1-888-704-1660 or use the Ask a Librarian form.

In Person

If you prefer to talk to a Reference Librarian in person, please stop by the library. The Reference department is located on the 2nd floor of the Library and Learning Resources Center. Reference Librarians are available during reference desk hours. On most days a Reference Librarian is available when the library opens and up until 2 hours before closing. Reference Librarians are not available on Sundays.

You will receive a response usually within 24-48 hours Monday-Friday and within 48-72 hours Saturday and Sunday.

Please allow 2 - 3 minutes for your text to be received and answered by a librarian.

The Pumerantz Library does not charge for this service. However, cell phone providers generally charge customers for sending and/or receiving text messages. Check with your cell phone provider for more information on text messaging charges.
