Introducing WorldCat Local
The Harriet K. and Philip Pumerantz Library now offers a new service that will help students, faculty and staff more easily locate and obtain items within the collections of the Pumerantz Library and other libraries. The WorldCat Local service, provided by OCLC, enables searchers to locate resources within the collections of thousands of libraries around the world.
Searching WorldCat Local
When you conduct a search using the new WorldCat Local search box, items that are available locally—collections in the Pumerantz Library—are shown at the top of the search results. The service also displays information about libraries outside Pumerantz Library to help you find resources in other WorldCat libraries that can often be requested through the library’s interlibrary loan service. You will also be able to take advantage of the service’s expanded search capability that provides single-search access to familiar databases.
The WorldCat Local service provides for an intuitive yet comprehensive library search experience. You can start your search by typing anything into the simple search box, or go to "advanced search" to search specifically by keyword, author or title. You can also limit a search by years, content type, format, and language. Search results can be limited after-the-fact using the "refine your search" options on the left side of the results list.
