Welcome back Alumni of WesternU!
The transition from student to practicing professional can come as a shock to some. Services and resources you had grown accustomed to using are now no longer accessible, however the Harriet K. and Philip Pumerantz Library is still able to assist you in your professional endeavors. Although there are some electronic resources that are not available to you as alumni, several e-resources are available. As alumni, you are able to use the library’s complete collection of electronic resources when you come on-campus to visit the library.
This page will provide you with information related to resources and services available to you both off-campus and on-campus.
The WesternU ID badge grants access to all university buildings and is also the university library card. If you no longer have an ID badge please contact the Library’s front desk prior to your visit for assistance.

In our print collection
The library provides a document delivery service for alumni at no charge. The library will copy and email, via ILLiad, journal articles from the current print collection. This service is not to be confused with interlibrary loans, which covers materials the library does not have in its collection.
From our online collection
You may use our electronic journals on-campus only. Unfortunately, due to license agreements with our electronic journal providers only faculty, staff, and currently enrolled students may have remote access to our e-journal subscriptions.
Book, journal articles and other materials not available from the Harriet K. & Philip Pumerantz Library may be obtained from other institutions using interlibrary loan. We encourage alumni to use their local library for interlibrary loans, but we will provide this service for a fee of $10.00 per request. If you would like to request an interlibrary loan with the Pumerantz Library please log in using ILLiad.
Alumni may use the library’s online catalog to locate books, journals, media and other materials on a subject of interest. The Online catalog may be consulted to determine what books are available in the Pumerantz Library’s collection. For assistance searching the online catalog inquire at any of the public service desks, or use the Chat with a Librarian service.
Checking Out Books
Alumni may borrow up to 3 circulating items for a 2-week period with one renewal. You must present a Western University Identification Badge to borrow materials. If you no longer have a Western University ID badge, you may have a new one printed, or you may present a photo ID & library staff will verify alumni status.
