Office Calls

The Pumerantz Library’s reference staff is available for Office Calls to faculty and staff in their on campus offices. The Office Call service includes help with private literature searching, small and large group instruction, bibliography formatting and many other library and information related matters.

This service is available during regular reference desk hours of Monday Friday 9-5 pm, and is not available on Saturdays or Sundays.

To schedule your Office Call please contact the Pumerantz Library s Reference Department using the Ask a Librarian form or call 909-469-5323. Office calls are by appointment only and should be made 24 – 48 hours in advance. The duration of an office call will vary on the subject matter but may be from 15 minutes to one hour or more.

What is an Office Call?

An office call is a customized research consultation, or instructional session performed by Pumerantz Library reference librarians. If requested, the reference staff also offers instruction for small groups, departmental meetings, or staff development.

Who is eligible to request an Office Call?

This service is available to the faculty & staff of the colleges located on the Pomona campus of Western University of Health Sciences. These include the colleges of osteopathic medicine, veterinary medicine, pharmacy, allied health, nursing, podiatry, optometry, dentistry, & biomedical sciences.

Where can the Office Call take place?

For one-on-one service, a reference librarian can visit you at your departmental office or laboratory. For small group meetings, arrangements should be made by the college’s resource scheduler to meet at a university meeting room. The library’s resource scheduler will make arrangements to use the library’s teaching lab.

How long can an office call be?

Office calls can be arranged depending on your needs. Meetings or instruction can be for as little as 15 minutes & up to 1 full hour or more if necessary.
