Message from the Dean

 

Dean Paula M Crone, DO I welcome the opportunity to invite you to campus to visit the future of health care here at the College of Osteopathic Medicine of the Pacific (COMP), at Western University of Health Sciences.

 

Our students reflect the positive impact osteopathic medicine will have on medicine and patient care. Our interprofessional curriculum, composed of case-based, small group learning experiences is preparing our first- and second-year students to be true leaders and members of the health care team.

 

At the campus Medical Center, a department of the Patient Care Center, preceptors and faculty give one-on-one attention to students and guide them through medical histories and physical exams.

COMP has grown to include an additional location in Lebanon, Oregon. The new 55,000-square-foot academic facility is housed on the Corvallis-based Samaritan Health Services campus.

The Mission of the College of Osteopathic Medicine of the Pacific (COMP) is to prepare students to become technically competent, culturally sensitive, professional and compassionate physicians who are life long learners and will serve society by providing comprehensive, patient-centered healthcare with the distinctive osteopathic philosophy.

COMP supports Western University of Health Sciences in its mission to increase the availability of physicians to serve the needs of the people across the United States and the world. The College provides the educational basis for internship and residencies in all medical specialties. The academic environment fosters respect for the uniqueness of humanity.
