Joseph C. Gambone, DO, MPH, is an active investigator in the field of quality improvement, outcomes research and health services research in women’s healthcare. He has been director of the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecologists (ACOG) postgraduate course on Safety and Quality and continues to teach on the faculty of this program. In addition to his clinical board certifications he is a Diplomate of the American Board of Quality Assurance and Resource Use Physicians. Professor Emeritus of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA, and a former physician consultant to the RAND Corporation, he has conducted numerous studies over the past ten years to evaluate the appropriateness of health care procedures. He is an author on over 100 scientific publications and book chapters. He is currently the executive editor of the widely used textbook, Essentials of Obstetrics and Gynecology.
