Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation

 

Welcome to the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation(PM&R) at Western University of Health Sciences, College of Osteopathic Medicine of the Pacific (COMP).

 

The mission of the department is to provide outstanding education to osteopathic medical students and residents, further research in the field of PM&R and provide high quality patient care.

 

PM&R physicians focus on maximizing a person’s function and quality of life through the restoration of the body and mind after disease and trauma.  Our department’s philosophy is to promote the tenets of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation in the context of the College of Osteopathic Medicine of the Pacific’s commitment to educating competent and caring physicians, teamwork and the principles of Osteopathy.

 

Our department is actively involved in educating the next generation of osteopathic physicians as well as those physicians who have chosen to pursue a career in PM&R. This includes coordination of the Musculoskeletal Course and assisting in the teaching of Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine (OMM) to 1st and 2nd year osteopathic medical students. In their 4th year of osteopathic medical school students also have the opportunity to do clerkships in PM&R at Casa Colina Centers for Rehabilitation (CCCR).

Casa Colina Centers for Rehabilitation is a nationally recognized rehabilitation hospital that is located only 3 miles from Western University of Health Sciences. It has been approved a 3 year American Osteopathic Association (AOA) accredited PM&R residency training program, which is currently undergoing development.Patient Care Center

 

 

 

 

 

At the Western University of Health Sciences PatientCare Center (PCC) the Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Department also provides high quality care for persons with acute and chronic musculoskeletal and neuromuscular disorders.
