ERAS, which stands for Electronic Residency Application System, is used by medical students in their final year of medical school as well as graduates to apply electronically for residency programs. ERAS provides a comprehensive listing of the specialties and programs participating in ERAS on their website.
NRMP, which stands for National Residency Matching Program, is not an application processing service. It provides an impartial venue for matching applicants’ and programs’ preferences for each. Applicants include former graduates of U.S. medical schools, U.S. osteopathic students and graduates, Canadian students and graduates, and students and graduates of international medical schools. For additional information about NRMP, visit their website

What the Office of the Registrar Needs You to Do
Once you’ve submitted your ERAS application and paid all applicable fees, the Office of the Registrar will be able to upload the following items to your ERAS application:
1. Official Transcript
2. Medical School Performance Evaluation (MSPE)
In order to upload these documents on your behalf, you must complete and return an ERAS Authorization Form which can be accessed via the Student Portal, you.westernu.edu. Once you are in the Student Portal, please navigate to the ‘Registrar Office’ tab at the top of the screen to access the authorization form.
Once we are able to view your application on our ERAS software, we will scan all of the items we have for you. If the necessary steps are completed as early as possible, we will be able to scan your documents into ERAS without delay.
The Office of the Registrar is here to help you with every step of the application process. Please feel free to contact us at (909) 469-5491 if you have any questions or at email@example.com.
