The Animal Resources Office at Western University of Health Sciences is dedicated to properly caring for all research animals at the University. Under the supervision of the Vice President for Research, the Office oversees the humane treatment of all animals used in research according to guidelines set up by the University IACUC (Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee).
The Animal Resources staff is fully trained by the Campus Veterinarian to care for a number of species and undergoes periodic retraining on an ongoing basis. The staff is dedicated to providing the highest quality of care possible, since quality animal care is of paramount importance for conducting high-quality scientific research.
The office works closely with members of the University faculty to insure that animal care issues are promptly addressed, and that all relevant policies and procedures are fully complied with.
