Dr. Alarcon was born in Guadalajara, Mexico and immigrated to the US in 1975 together with her 6 siblings. She completed her Bachelor of Science in Zoology and a Minor Degree in Spanish Literature from California State University Long Beach. She obtained her DDS from CASE School of Dental Medicine in 1989 and continued with a General Practice Residency at the Veteran’s Administration in Los Angeles, which emphasized the care of the medically compromised patient.

All throughout her undergraduate studies at CSULB she dedicated a good portion of her time to community outreach volunteer programs, in particular working with youth and underprivileged. As a dental student in Case School of Dental Medicine she provided dental care during the evenings at the Cleveland Free Clinic.
One of Dr. Alarcon’s missions has been to help improve the oral health of the Latino community through education. She is an accomplished radio host who has had her own talk show in dental education in different Spanish radio stations throughout Los Angeles. She has been a regular contributor to different Spanish magazines amongst: La Opinion, Contacto Magazine, Mi Doctor Magazine, and others. Another mission is to promote the world of Dentistry among youth and encourage students to consider it as a profession. She has been a key speaker at elementary and middle schools motivating students about how Dentistry can be an accessible profession for all students, regardless of their ethnicity and upbringing.

In 2010 she joined the innovative Western University of Health Sciences College of Dental Medicine where she has been involved in numerous activities ranging from preclinical courses, designing a preliminary endodontic curriculum, and clinical managing partner supervising the clinical care provided by the class of 2013.
