Narrative

David A. Connett DO, FACOFP dist attended the College of Osteopathic Medicine of the Pacific (COMP) earning his degree in Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine in 1984 and transitional PGY-1 year at the Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine and was called to active duty in the United States Air Force at Los Angeles Air Force Base.  Dr. Connett was attended flight school at the School of Aerospace Medicine at Brooks Air Force Base earning the title of Flight Surgeon and was promoted to the Chief of Aerospace Medicine. In addition Dr. Connett completed his requirements required and was board-certified in Family medicine while active duty Air Force.  Dr. Connett practiced both Emergency Medicine and Aerospace Medicine at Beale Air Force Base during Operation Desert Storm. In addition Dr. Connett achieved certification to become a high-altitude flight surgeon for the U2/TR-1 mission for the United States Air Force. In 1993 he was the Program Director and Director of Medical Education at the HealthOne/HCA Presbyterian/St. Luke’s Family Medicine Residency in Denver, Colorado and later Medical Director with oversight of 38 clinics into healthcare centers providing extensive involvement with medical student training and oversight.  He earned the academic rank in 1995 as Associate Clinical Professor of Western University of Health Sciences-COMP and in 1997 Clinical Assistant Professor of Family Medicine-Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine (KCOM). In 2000 Dr. Connett was worked as the Regional Dean of Touro University College of Osteopathic Medicine, Vallejo California for the Colorado region. In addition in 2000, Dr. Connett was a founding board member for the Colorado Osteopathic Education Consortium (COEC) which provided oversight of medical student clinical training for the entire state of Colorado primarily for KCOM and Touro Vallejo. Dr. Connett earned the rank of Family Medicine Fellow in 2000 by the American College of Osteopathic Family Physicians.  In 2003 Dr. Connett expanded his academic career by accepting the role of Vice President/Chief Medical Officer of Garden City Hospital and Director of Medical Education and later Interim Director of Medical Education by providing oversight of 13 osteopathic residencies, 10 osteopathic training clinics and a 250 bed medical center. Dr. Connett also opened a new hyperbaric treatment center at Garden City Hospital in addition became Certified in Hyperbaric Therapy by the American College of Hyperbaric Medicine in 2006. In 2007, Dr. Connett joined COMP initially as the Assistant Dean of Postdoctoral Education and Development working with the Assistant Dean of Graduate Medical Education in the development of de novo residency training sites expanding opportunities for clinical training for third and fourth year students. He was later promoted to Associate Dean of Clinical Affairs provide oversight and leadership for the clinical operations for which he opened a branch facility in Rancho Cucamonga for training of family medicine students.  In 2013 Dr. Connett was promoted to Vice Dean of the College of Osteopathic Medicine of the Pacific. In 2014 he was honored by The American College of Osteopathic Family physicians as a Distinguished Fellow in Family Medicine.
