Quannetta Edwards, PhD, FNP, WHCNP, FAANP has over 38 years of professional nursing experience. She completed 28 years of active duty military service in the U.S. Air Force Nurse Corps in 2001 and retired in the rank of Colonel. During her military career she served as a nurse, nurse manager, Chief Nurse Recruitment Officer, Chief Health Profession s Recruitment Officer, Women s Health & Family Nurse Practitioner, research, Clinic Chief and Assistant Professor in the Family Nurse Practitioner and Research Department. After her military career she worked as a Director of two nurse practitioner programs and Chair of Graduate Nursing education at Universities in Virginia and Washington D.C. Dr. Edwards has numerous publications and national and international presentations.
Dr. Edwards graduated with a diploma in Nursing in Michigan in 1970; has a bachelor's degree in nursing; master's degree in nursing and mental health counseling; post master's degree in marital/family therapy and a PhD in nursing. She completed the Summer Genetics Program at the National Institute of Health in Bethesda, Maryland in 2004. She also completed a 2-year RN fellow/post-doctoral work in clinical cancer genetics at the Department of Clinical Cancer Genetics, City of Hope Medical Center in Duarte, CA with an epidemiology research focus in breast cancer at the University of Southern California.
Her primary research focus is in ‘breast cancer' . Additional research interests include: health disparities, implementation of genetics into nursing curriculum, women's health issues, and education of nurse practitioners hereditary cancer syndromes (breast and colon cancer).
