All registered students at Western University of Health Sciences are required to have health insurance while they are attending school. You will be automatically enrolled in and charged for the school sponsored insurance plan unless you provide proof of other comparable coverage and a waiver is submitted by the Waiver/Proof of Insurance deadline date. For questions regarding submission of existing proof of coverage, view the 2012-2013 Waiver FAQ's. All students will have the opportunity to submit their proof of coverage during the fall 2011 registration process. Coverage requirements for all students seeking to waive out of the school sponsored insurance plan are below.
We encourage you to seek a health insurance plan that meets your specific needs. There are many companies that may be able to provide you with the coverage you need for your specific health concerns. Often times the national or student chapter of your professional organization will offer a good deal on health insurance so we recommend that you check with your professional organization to see if this is available and suits your needs (for example, SOMA offers health insurance to medical students). Please note, WesternU does not recommend any one insurance plan over another.
