Denise Schilling, PT, PhD

Biographical Information

Denise L. Schilling holds a Ph.D. degree from the University of Washington, a M.S. degree from University of Washington, a physical therapy degree from Emory University, a corrective therapy certificate and a BS degree in Education from Kent State University. She has over 20 years of pediatric clinical practice in the school-based setting. In addition, she has experience in family-centered home care, NICU and developmental clinics. Most recently Dr. Schilling was the Research Program Specialist for the Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Department of the Cleveland Clinic and adjunct faculty at Cleveland State University.

Areas of Teaching and Academic Research or Interest

Areas of academic teaching include: research methodology, evidence based practice, pediatrics, & role of culture in health care.

Dr. Schilling's research is on the sensorimotor system, focusing on the influence of dynamic seating on the academic performance and behavior of children with ADHD and children with autism. Additional areas of interest include research design, cultural competency, and interdisciplinary practice strategies.
