Education Scholar ProgramCAPE is pleased to announce the availability of a new professional development program for Western University faculty. Jointly developed by WesternU and the American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy (AACP), the Education Scholar program is a completely self-paced online curriculum designed to enhance the teaching skills of health care professionals involved in health professions education.
The Education Scholar program is comprised of 8 modules. Click any of the links below to learn more about each module:

Each module presents key concepts in health professions education through a combination of on-screen text, images, and audio clips.

Examples, case studies and demonstrations from the health professions are included to illustrate key points. Streaming video is also used to demonstrate the application of selected teaching techniques.
Exercises are provided to engage you in the learning process while you build your teaching portfolio. The program provides numerous opportunities for interaction in the form of self-assessments, surveys, and reflective questions. Field exercises are also suggested to help you put the concepts you are learning to practical use.
The questions and exercises presented in the Education Scholar program will challenge you to examine your beliefs about teaching and learning, while helping you to expand your expertise and skills as a health professions educator. As you progress through the program, you are encouraged to incorporate your insights into an electronic teaching portfolio.
With required readings and other online activities, each Education Scholar module can be completed in about 10-20 hours. Numerous further study resources are provided so you can pursue specific topics in more depth if desired.
