Jeff Heatherington has been the Executive Director of the Osteopathic Physicians & Surgeons of Oregon in Portland, Oregon, since 1978
He successfully lobbied the Legislature to mandate that workers' compensation payments for osteopathic manipulation be reimbursed in addition to an E&M visit; to require that any credentialing entity in the state of Oregon accept all forms of osteopathic education and certification; and put tow D.O.'s on the Oregon State Board of Medical Examiners.
Additionally, in 1984 Jeff founded, and is the President of FamilyCare, Inc., a Medicaid and Medicare managed care company, and the nation's only osteopathic HMO.
Heatherington is recognized leader in health care issues and has served on a number of State Boards, including the Oregon Health Council, and a number of American Osteopathic Association committees. He receive the American Osteopathic Association's Distinguished Service Certificate in 2005.
