Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine Program Awards
Students cannot apply for these awards and honors since they are not given until AFTER they have started their education here at Western University of Health Sciences. These are awards and honors that recognize the student's academic performance while attending school.
Russell C. McCaughan Award
Presented to a first year DO student for academic excellence, participation in extra-curricular activities, ability to work harmoniously with fellow students and faculty, strong motivation in osteopathic philosophy, future promise as an osteopathic physician, and financial need.
Class Of 1989 Award
Presented to a second year DO student for contributing to the morale of the class and being supportive to the University.
Rotary Club Community Service Award
Presented to a first or second year DO student for outstanding service to the community, academic standing, excellent student comportment.
Montclair Clinic Service Award
Presented to a second year DO student who excelled at facilitating the student programs at the Montclair Clinic as both a learning experience and a valued community service.
Glen Scheresky Memorial Scholarship Award
Given to a first year DO student who exemplifies the qualities of Glen Scheresky who was a member of the Class of 1999. Must demonstrate a commitment to the medical profession, is a strong student advocate, sets and attains high personal goals, is compassionate toward others and enjoys outdoor activities.
William G. Woodman, MD, Humanitarian Memorial Award
Presented for humanitarian service, community involvement and volunteer work.
Jeff Plumb Memorial Award
Presented to a second year DO student who best exemplifies the qualities of Jeff Plumb, who was a member of the Class of 1985, for passionate pursuit of hobbies and interests other than medicine.
Clem Parsons Memorial Scholarship Award
Presented to a second year DO student for good academic performance and financial need.
William G. Stahl, D.O., F.A.C.O.S. Memorial Scholarship
Presented to a first and second year student who best exemplify the qualities of the caring and dedicated osteopathic physician.
Osteopathic Physicians and Surgeons of California
Presented to a second year DO student for working to further osteopathic medical education in the state of California.
Louise Kramer Scholarship Award
Presented to a student who exhibits the humanistic and holistic principles inherent in the practice of osteopathic medicine, service to the College, good academic standing, and financial need.
Dr. V. Gladys Shutt Memorial Award
Presented to an OMM Fellowship student for outstanding promise in the skill of manipulation and who demonstrates the ideals of treating the patient as a whole.
American Association of Colleges of Osteopathic Medicine - Council of Student Council Presidents Student DO of The Year Award
Presented to a DO student for achievements made while in osteopathic medical school in each of the following areas: service to the college; service to the university; service to the community; service to the profession.
Dean's Award
Presented to a second year DO student for service to the University and the community, leadership ability, and good academic standing.
University Awards
President's Society Award
Presented to students in recognition of academic excellence, financial need and service to the College.
Linda Fox Memorial Endowment Fund
Presented to students in good academic standing to help defray travel expenses during clerkships or expenses associated with thesis special projects.
Arthur Madorsky, MD, Memorial Scholarship Award
Presented in memory of Dr. Art Madorsky, who was member of the Board of Trustees and faculty, given to one or more students with disabilities who demonstrate academic excellence and financial need.
