Grad Plus Lender List

2008 - 2009

The staff at Western University of Health Sciences Financial Aid Office has established our Grad Plus Lender list to assist you in making a decision on a lender that best meets your needs. The Financial Aid Office requires that if you are going to borrow a Grad Plus loan to go through the pre-approval process before we will certify a loan. Simply select a lender and then click where it says "APPLY". These links bring you directly to the lender website or the FastPlus Grad page. Once you have completed the pre-approval process you will be notified of your status. Upon approval your lender will send the Financial Aid Office notification for certification. All Grad Plus loans are disbursed in two or three equal disbursements based on your program.

Each of the lenders below has a fixed interest rate of 8.50% and origination fees of 3.0%. Annual loan limits are the cost of attendance minus other financial aid. There is NO grace period on the Grad Plus loan program however, deferments and forbearance are the same as your Stafford loans.

Grad Plus loans can be consolidated with your Stafford loans unlike the alternative loans.

The FAO was able to determine to the best of our ability the cost of educational loans by using the loan analyzer calculators at http://www.finaid.org/calculators/loandiscountanalyzer.phtml many lenders were reviewed based on the following scenario:

$20,000.00 Grad Plus Loan

Interest rate of 8.5%

Four years remaining in school

Incentives provided by each lender

Equals the Cost of Loan (see chart below)

Based on the results of our scenario as shown above we have selected the lenders listed based on the cost of the loan, customer service, ease of process, company reputation and funding availability.

As a borrower you have the right and ability to select the education loan provider of your choice, even though they are not shown on our lender list. Selecting a lender that is currently not on our list will not have any consequences, all loans will be processed in a timely manner.

WesternU's lender list does not contain any lender that has offered or solicited any financial or other benefits to be a part of our lender list.
