Can I expect the same high quality education from your online program that I would from an on-campus program?
Absolutely. The on-line curriculums of our MSN or DNP programs are rigorous and the credentials of the faculty are impressive. We are able to achieve state and national accreditation because our curriculums are high quality.

What courses are included in the pre-licensure portion of the program?
Please link to the curriculum for the pre-licensure phase of the RN/MSN program. The curriculum exceeds the prescribed minimum requirements of RN programs in our state. The BRN requires 36 units and CGN's program consists of 56 units. Additonal didactic and clinical courses are part of the curriculum and felt by faculty to be essential to prepare highly qualified RN's.

What are the track options for the post-licensure portion of my master's?
Currently, CGN offers four master's tracks for all MSN-E students. These include Leadership and Management, Ambulatory Care, Clinical Nurse Leader, and Family Nurse Practitioner. All of these programs of study prepare the student to sit for a national certification exam in their specialty.

When do I choose my track option? Can I change my option later?
Yes. Students are asked to select their track in the third semester of the pre-licensure program; however students take similar courses until semester five. Changing tracks may delay graduation if courses in a different track are not offered in a given semester. CGN faculty advisors work closely with students to achieve their desired educational goals.

Can I work while going through the MSN-E program?
We recommend that students do not work during their RN curriculum, as the courses are intensive and delivered in an accelerated format. Students can expect a 4-5 day week due to clinical rotations. It is important for students to dedicate a full-time commitment in the first four semesters. In semester five, students become licensed as RN's and seek employment. In the post-licensure phase of the program, unit load is reduced as it is expected that all students will work as an RN.

How many clinical hours are required in the pre-licensure portion of the program?
Students will complete 810 (18 units) clinical hours in the first sixteen months of the program. The CA Board of Registered Nursing requires 15 units or 675 hours. CGN faculty value additional clinical hours to better prepare students for employment.
