What is Chat Reference?
The Chat Reference service allows you to speak in real-time to reference librarians for assistance.

How do I get started?
If the librarian is online, type your question into the chat window above. The service is available during Reference Desk hours. Hours are: Monday - Friday, 9:00-5:00; Saturday, 11:00-4:00.

Who can use Chat Reference?
The Chat Reference service is available to members of the Western University community.

What kinds of questions may I ask?
The service is intended to offer brief reference assistance. Those seeking more extensive research assistance will be asked to call the library at (909) 469-5323 or use the Ask a Librarian form.

What can I do to get assistance if Chat Reference is unavailable?
The library can also answer your questions by email, phone or in person. See the Ask a Librarian web page for a full range of options.
