Access Medicine
McGraw-Hill's Access Medicine is an online resource that provides services for physicians, students, and health professionals who need immediate access to authoritative and current medical data which is updated daily. Includes full-text electronic access to medical reference books, a differential diagnosis tool, practice guidelines, and patient education material. The Harriet K. & Philip Pumerantz Library has access to the following title available Access Medicine:

AnatomyTV
Anatomy.TV is the Web version of Primal Pictures 3D interactive CD ROM series. Includes 3-D models that rotate and strip away anatomical layers from superficial to deep.

CINAHL
CINAHL, the Cumulative Index to Nursing & Allied Health Literature, is the authoritative resource for nursing and allied health professionals, students, educators and researchers. This database provides indexing and abstracting for over 1,835 current nursing and allied health journals and publications dating back to 1982. Physician Assistant studies is one of the allied health disciplines included in CINHAL subject coverage. Quality filters are available that will allow you to limit your search to Allied Health literature.

DynaMed
DynaMed is a clinical reference tool created by physicians for use primarily at the point-of-care. Dynamed features nearly 3,000 topics. It is updated daily as a result of the monitoring of over 500 medical journals and systematic evidence review databases. Included in the library's subscription is access to DynaMed's PDA software. Please contact the library at reference@westernu.edu to obtain access to DynaMed on your PDA device.

Health Source Nursing/Academic Edition
Provides full-text journals focusing on many medical disciplines. Coverage of nursing and allied health is particularly strong.

MD Consult
MD Consult Core Service helps answer clinical questions and stay abreast of recent developments by integrating medical reference books, medical journals and clinics, MEDLINE comprehensive drug information, peer-reviewed clinical practice guidelines, customizable patient education handouts, and daily personalized clinical updates. Our monthly features and columns are customized to fit the unique needs of PAs and cover the wide range of issues they encounter every day.

Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality
AHRQ is the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality. It is the Nation's lead Federal agency for research on health care quality, costs, outcomes, and patient safety. They work with public and private sectors to build a knowledge base for what does, and does not, work in health and health care and to translate this knowledge into everyday practice and policymaking.

Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs
CAAHEP is the largest programmatic accreditor in the health sciences field. In collaboration with its Committees on Accreditation, CAAHEP reviews and accredits over 2000 educational programs in nineteen health science occupations. CAAHEP is recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA).

Data and Statistics for Physician Assistant profession
The most important activities is AAPA's Annual Census Survey of PAs. Aggregate results of the census survey are reported at the end of each year in the AAPA Physician Assistant Census Report. This Web page is divided into three sections. The first two sections are based on primary data the Division of Data Services and Statistics has collected about PAs and new PA students. The third section includes other information available on PAs, as well as policies the division maintains regarding the data sharing and survey assistance programs.

National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants
NCCPA is the only credentialing organization for physician assistants in the United States. Established as a not-for-profit organization in 1975, NCCPA is dedicated to assuring the public that certified physician assistants meet established standards of knowledge and clinical skills upon entry into practice and throughout their careers.

Physician Assistant Competencies
The public demand for higher quality and greater accountability in health care has been growing steadily over the last several years. To address this issue within the PA profession, four of the major national PA organizations have joined together to define PA competencies, a critical starting point to identify opportunities for improvement in the development and assessment of those competencies. American Academy of Physician Assistants

American Association of Surgical Physician Assistants
AASPA is the premier organization that represents PAs that work in the pre-operative, intra-operative, and post-operative settings. AASPA was formed for Surgical PAs, by Surgical PAs.

Association of Family Practice Physician Assistants
The mission of the Association of Family Practice Physician Assistants is to foster the educational and professional interests of Family Practice Physician Assistants by promoting clinical and academic excellence and providing a forum for assembling and distributing information important to our profession. Pursuant to this mission, the association seeks to provide a base for mentoring and/or precepting future PAs, promotes relevant CME resources, and disseminates employment information.

California Academy of Physician Assistants
The Mission of the California Academy of Physician Assistants is to represent and serve PAs statewide.
