Library Liaison

The Harriet K. & Philip Pumerantz Library has Reference Librarians designated as library liaisons to serve as a first point of contact for each college at Western University of Health Sciences.

What is a library liaison?

Library liaisons provide faculty, staff, and students with the name of at least one person they can contact as a starting point for assistance, requests, suggestions, concerns, etc within the library. The goal of the liaison program is to foster two-way communication between the library and each college at Western University of Health Sciences to ensure that the Pumerantz Library is responsive to the needs of each college. Please keep in mind that, although each college has a designated library liaison, all Reference Librarians would be happy to assist you.

What can your liaison do for you?

Library liaisons can assist faculty, staff, and students in many ways. Activities may include, but are not limited to:
  • Attend department curriculum meetings, conferences, seminars, events, workshops, and presentations
  • Curriculum integration, development, and library instruction
  • Serve as information filters, sending relevant material to each college
  • Perform literature searches and research assistance to faculty and staff
  • Perform new student orientations
  • Collection development
  • Observe classes, rotations, and/or rounds
  • Office calls for faculty and staff
  • Assist with commencement ceremonies
