National Library Week is April 14th-18th

The library will celebrate National Library Week April 14th - April 18th with workshops available Monday through Thursday in the Teaching Lab (Room 211) on the 2nd floor of the library. Refreshments will be served. Reserve a seat by calling (909) 469-5323 or email reference@westernu.edu. There is a limit of 12 seats per workshop. Attend one of the workshops and you will be entered into a raffle for a $30 Starbucks gift card. The raffle drawing will take place on Friday, April 18th and the winner will be notified by email. Also on Friday, April 18th the Circulation Department will host Fine Free Friday. Please see the daily activity descriptions below for more information.

As every physician knows, medicine is a visual science. Images are an important aid to diagnosis and teaching. images.MD compiles over 70,000 high-quality images spanning all specialties of internal medicine. In this workshop, participants will learn how to search for images and create a My Slides account. Copyright implications will also be covered.

Electronic Resource of the Month - images.MD

Because medicine is a visual science, high-quality images are an important aid in diagnosis and teaching. Images.MD compiles over 70,000 high-quality images spanning all specialties of internal medicine. All images in images.MD are taken from Current Medicine Group LLS's series of illustrated atlases. As new atlases are published or existing series updated, images.MD delivers these updates to its subscribers. Each image is accompanied by detailed and informative text written by over 2,000 contributing experts. Users may register for a “My Slides” free account, which allows images to be saved for future use. “My Slides” allows users to created slide sets, PowerPoint presentations, and customized CDs.

Images.MD is available from the library's Electronic Resources page under "Article Searching and Databases". Databases are listed in alphabetical order.
