College of Optometry - NewsWestern University of Health Sciences College of Optometry Founder's Day The College of Optometry held our first Founder's Day on Saturday, September 26th. The day began with an inspirational speech from a very special guest and the first Founder's Day Award recipient, Dr. Donald Studt. With Humanism being one of our core values, we could not think of a better person to receive this very first Founder's Day Award than Dr. Studt, whose many accomplishments, wisdom, and compassion for the community will inspire our inaugural class for their future endeavors. The College also recognized eight students with scholarships and awards. These students demonstrated the core values of WesternU: Humanism, Caring, and Scientific Excellence.

The Southern California College of Optometry in Fullerton, CA puts together a basketball tournament every year. This year, they invited the "new" school, WesternU, to take part in their tradition. We are truly thankful to SCCO for inviting us to participate in the basketball tournament that was held at the Brea Community Center on October 24th. We were able to add two teams to the tournament and our students even found time to create some very interesting mascots for the event. This was a first step toward future collaboration between the schools and we are looking forward to many many more. Thank you SCCO!!
