Description of Academic/Research Interests
Disease State Management: I am interested in demonstrating the value of community pharmacists in improving health outcomes of patients with chronic diseases such as asthma, hypertension, diabetes, etc. Many pharmacists actively conduct pharmaceutical care and disease state management, my focus is to help design protocols and streamline data collection efforts to yield meaningful results that can document patient progress and improved clinical and humanistic outcomes due to pharmacist intervention. My research also involves a survey of all community pharmacies in Californiato assess the state of disease state management programs.
Outcomes research: I am interested in the conceptual and methodological issues in Health-related quality-of-life (HRQOL). This includes development and validation of instruments to measure change in HRQOL from the patients' perspective; and to examine various techniques of measuring this change. My interests also include patient satisfaction and pharmacoeconomics. |
