Admission Preparation & Tips

To be invited for an interview at Western University of Health Sciences is a significant achievement! This means you have passed a rigorous examinination of your academic credentials and now you have the opportunity to showcase other skills, traits and characteristics. Each Western University college/program uses the interview process to gather as much information about each applicant as possible in order to identify students who are academically qualified and who have backgrounds, experiences and personal philosophies consistent with that of the university.

In preparation for the interview, you should:

Learn as much as you can about the Western University campus, curriculum and philosophy.

--Visit the campus for an information session and/or campus tour

--Explore the Western University Web site

--Research the field/profession on the Internet


Know yourself! Review your resume and application forms prior to the interview. Reflect on your successes and skills, and be prepared to talk about them.


Be able to articulate why you want to go to Western University of Health Sciences and why you want to become a health care professional.


Role-play with friends or a career counselor. Some college career service offices have the ability to videotape you taking part in a mock interview and will help you evaluate your performance. This can be helpful as you learn to manage the nervousness and anxiety that is a natural part of this process.


Visit the pre-health advising office or career center at your university. The advisors there have helped hundreds of students progress through the graduate application and admissions process.
