Health Insurance

Students enrolled full-time at Western University of Health Sciences must maintain a health insurance policy for the duration of their education. Proof of such coverage is required at the time of registration for each academic year.

All students are encouraged to "shop around" for their own insurance coverage. Please be cautious and make sure the plan you purchase is right for you. Many students are enrolled in plans offered by Blue Cross, Kaiser Permanente, HealthNet, PacifiCare, Aetna US Healthcare and United Healthcare. There are many companies out there that can give you the coverage you need for your specific health concerns.

Health insurance is also available through a program offered the University, underwriten by Nationwide Life Insurance, at a reasonable cost. All students are automatically enrolled in this plan, and they have a 30-day grace period from the date of registration to forward proof of alternative insurance coverage to the Office of the Registrar. Once satisfactory proof has been received, the insurance charges for the University plan are reversed. There will be no refunds or fees reversed after the 30-day grace period. No exceptions!

If you have proof of health insurance, you may email or fax a copy of your health insurance card to (front and back sides) kjones@westernu.edu or 909-469-5425 (fax). Please include your name, class and student ID within your email or fax.

For additional information, including current pricing please visit the Student Affairs Health Insurance webpage.
