Health InsuranceStudents enrolled full-time at Western University of Health Sciences must maintain a health insurance policy for the duration of their education. Proof of such coverage is required at the time of registration for each academic year.
We encourage you to "shop around" for your own insurance coverage. Please be cautious and make sure the plan you purchase is right for you. Many students are enrolled in plans offered by Blue Cross, Kaiser Permanente, HealthNet, PacifiCare, Aetna US Healthcare and United Healthcare. There are many companies out there that can give you the coverage you need for your specific health concerns.
Health insurance is also available through a program offered the University, underwriten by Nationwide Life Insurance, at a reasonable cost. All students are automatically enrolled in this plan, and they have a 30-day grace period from the date of registration to complete an insurance waiver form and forward proof of alternative insurance coverage to the Office of the Registrar. Once satisfactory proof has been received, the insurance charges for the University plan are reversed. There will be no refunds or fees reversed after the 30-day grace period. No exceptions!
The 2009-2010 insurance plan which is underwritten by Nationwide Life Insurance, provides students with access to a network of healthcare providers. Listed below are some of the additional features of this plan.
Note: plans are re-negotiated each academic year and any changes in cost or benefits will be shared as soon as they are available.
