Current Research in Avian Diseases Conference

Pomona, California September 19-20, 2009

Western UnversityThe first Current Research in Avian Diseases Conference will be held at the College of Veterinary Medicine, Western University of Health Sciences in Pomona, California, on September 19-20, 2009. The goal of this conference is to allow avian researchers to present, share and discuss their research findings and other advances on free-ranging and captive birds' diseases.

We invite researchers, graduate students, clinicians, biologists and all avian health professionals involved in avian disease research to submit abstracts and present their findings at this upcoming conference. Topics that are welcome include, but is not limited to: updates on infectious and parasitic avian diseases, the role of diseases on wild birds' population, conservation medicine, molecular diagnosis and epidemiology of avian diseases, biosurveillance, avian zoonoses, avian toxicology and nutritional and genetic diseases.


Original research as well current updates and reviews on selected avian diseases are both welcomed. Registration includes breakfast, lunch and dinner for both days of the conference. On the evening of Saturday 19 an Argentinian barbecue (vegetarian and vegan options will also be available) will be offered at Western U campus while accompanied of live music. This will be an additional great opportunity for having a good time and for networking with fellow researchers!

Program & Events

Oral presentations will occur on Saturday and Sunday. Speakers will have 15 minutes to present. Questions and answers will be discussed after each session.
