Personal Teaching Philosophy

Teaching is the process of providing the tools for students to become life-long learners; to successfully investigate and integrate ideas and to formulate novel hypotheses.

Professional Interests

  • Dr. Collisson's disciplines of expertise are virology and viral immunology, and the application of molecular biology to address viral disease in veterinary medicine.

Research Interests

  • Dr. Collisson's research focuses on characterizing T lymphocyte responses and identifying mechanisms to enhance T lymphocyte immunity to viral infections.  Her laboratory is currently working with avian infectious bronchitis virus, a coronavirus that causes a SARS-like disease in poultry, an oncogenic avian retrovirus and avian influenza viruses.
