Laboratory Animal & Research - - Syllabus

Course Description

This course is two weeks in duration and provides an introduction to laboratory animal veterinary medical practice. The etiology, pathogenesis, diagnosis, treatment and prevention of common diseases of laboratory animals are reviewed. Additional topics include regulations governing research animal care and use, animal facilities management, handling and restrain of common laboratory species. At the end of this course students will value the role of veterinarians in biomedical research and develop an educated opinion of the role of research in furthering the practice of veterinary medicine.
