Special Events

The Special Events department supports the university president and university Advancement team in building donors relations through fundraising and university academic ceremonies. Special Events develops, produces, manages and creates the appropriate atmosphere to execute quality events to meet this goal.

The university has several categories of events; therefore, each category is managed differently. Each event has a lead, which is appointed by the events director. Depending on the event, the lead will work closely with the events director or fairly independent. The lead is accountable for the event.

Scheduled events include the university’s biggest annual fundraiser: A Tribute to Caring.

Donor relation events include the L.A. Philharmonic VIP dinner followed by a larger group for dessert night and the Parents Day BBQ held prior to the start of the academic year.

Employee relationship building events coordinated by Special Events include the President’s Holiday Appreciation Lunch and monthly department appreciation lunches. Academic events organized by the department include Convocation, White Coat ceremonies, the annual Ice Cream Social, and Commencement.

The Special Events department also handles unscheduled events such as ground-breakings, building and room dedications, scholarship lunches, donor lunches, receptions, dinners, administration farewells and retirement parties.
