2020 Year of the Nurse

Florence Nightingale is a prominent figure in nursing who has greatly impacted 19th and 20th century healthcare practice and policies. Her pioneering work started during the Crimean War (1853 -1856) while caring for wounder soldiers. During the Crimean War, Florence and her team of nurses improved the unsanitary conditions at their  hospital, greatly improving health outcomes. The image of the “Lady with the Lamp” originates from Florence’s commitment to providing excellent care to the soldiers in the hospital at night.
