On Saturday, March 3, 2018, WesternU College of Pharmacy held its Inaugural Rx5000 event. Over 300 people gathered at Frank G. Bonelli Park in San Dimas, CA to partake in the 5k run/walk, kids 1k fun run, and free health fair. Rx5000 brought our community together in support of our future healthcare professionals. The donations and funds generated from the Rx5000 will aid student scholarships, community health fairs, and student mentorship and career development programs.
Medals were given to all who participated in the 5k and 1k, but only the top finishers were given special recognition awards. Congratulations to the top overall male finishers David Perez who came in first place, Lihung Chen, and Dylan Dang. We also awarded the top overall female finishers Sierra De Los Rios, Aariana Amezcua, and Margot Evans.
Special thanks to Dr. Eric Gupta, Assistant Dean for External Relations and Strategic Initiatives, and student pharmacists Allison Hamoy ’21 and Michelle Kwok ’21 who coordinated the Rx5000 health fair, making it possible for the attendees to receive free health screenings.
WesternU College of Pharmacy would also like to recognize the Los Angeles County Fire Department recruit class 150 for being the largest 5k team this year with over 45 members registered. In addition, a warm thank you to the local business supporters
which include Super King Market, Sprouts Farmers Markets, Panera Bread, Burrtec, The Home Depot, and Nothing Bundt Cakes for their contributions to this event.
Thank you so much to all who came, ran, walked, volunteered and in any way supported the inaugural Rx5000. This event would not have been possible without you!
