    All,

Greetings on behalf of the Provost and Senior Vice-President Search Committee. This communication is designed to inform the entire WesternU community of the search process to date. For everyone’s convenience, the Provost Search Committee has set up a Provost Search website where members of the WesternU community can access the most recent information at your personal convenience.

As chief academic officer of the University, the provost will provide the leadership, vision and oversight of WesternU’s academic affairs and will be pivotal in assuring a successful future for WesternU. Under the draft administrative structure effective July 1, 2022, developed by Interim President Sylvia Manning and President Designee Robin Farias-Eisner, the provost’s role will significantly increase in scope and responsibility. The proposed changes bring WesternU’s provost position into stronger alignment with administrative responsibilities at peer institutions.

The Search Committee embraces the opportunity to bring forward exemplary candidates who can successfully steward WesternU in achieving our collective aspirations, goals and objectives. We are deeply grateful to those who have agreed to serve on the Search Committee. The Committee (see below or at Provost Search Website) is representative of the broad array of campus stakeholders and are committed to working diligently on behalf of all faculty, staff, students and campus leaders. The process will rely heavily upon the Search Committee and its leadership in evaluation and advancing the most suitable candidates. We have every confidence that our efforts and process will identify candidates who possess the proven administrative, strategic and collaborative leadership skills to propel WesternU to our best future.

WesternU has engaged the services of AGB Search to facilitate the process. We are fortunate to be working with Richard A. Wueste, J.D. and Julie Staggs, Ed.D. both of whom have extensive experience in higher education placements at the level of provost and president. AGB Search and our consultants embrace a philosophy and approach that aligns with the WesternU culture and exemplifies the core values of our University. We are jointly committed to a process that is transparent and appropriately engages the campus community, but at the same time provides for the absolute confidentiality and respect needed to attract quality candidates.

A key function of the Search Committee will include capturing the campus sentiment regarding the role, goals and function of the next provost. This important component of the search will include three elements in the early stages of the process.

First, a brief open field survey from AGB Search can be found in the link below.  To preserve anonymity, the responses go directly to AGB Search and aggregated responses provided to the Provost Search Committee.
