Award Criteria: Anonymous donor – This scholarship is primarily available to students who are members of the equine club or have shown through their studies and activities a passion for equine veterinary medicine. Students must have financial need, as determine through the office of financial aid, to be eligible for this scholarship. If no students apply, or are recommended, who are members of the equine club or have a shown interest and passion for equine medicine, this scholarship will be open and available to be awarded to any student with financial need as determined by the scholarship committee of the College. The gift may be used to create one or two scholarships for students as decided by the scholarship committee of the College following the other criteria listed above. Students may apply or be recommended for renewal of this scholarship in future years based on the donor making the gift again and the decisions of the scholarship committee of the College. The Winston Award was created in honor of the memory of Winston, a much beloved cocker spaniel who suffered from hemangiosarcoma and additional family pets with cancer. The donor family wishes to encourage veterinary students to pursue the field of veterinary oncology thus facilitating advancements in the treatment and compassionate care of companion animals. Interested students are invited to apply. Two awards are available.This award MUST be used to defray expenses associated with an oncology rotation or to attend a veterinary oncology-related meeting; either of which must be disclosed in the letter of intent. |
