The essay should include a basic budget of the costs, and a formula for determining the approximate future date at which the practice will reach the break-even point”. The winner will be eligible to enter for a $15,000 National Award to be chosen from all the $3000 award winners across the nation.

The national award winner will also receive a trip to 2016 NAVC in Orlando in order to receive the award. This includes:

  • Tuition to the conference
  • Round trip coach airfare
  • Lodging at one of the host hotels (3 nights)
  • A per diem to help cover cost of food and other incidentals

Award Criteria: Students judged by CVM faculty for those demonstrating strong communication skills with a client in a clinical setting. To compete for the national award, school winners must submit a video of their client interview. The national winner will receive an additional $2,500 scholarship. The PJ/Hart Loving Bond Award is named in honor of two therapy dogs that made significant contributions to the psychosocial welfare of numerous children that they served. The Winston Award was created in honor of the memory of Winston, a much beloved cocker spaniel who suffered from hemangiosarcoma and additional family pets with cancer. The donor family wishes to encourage veterinary students to pursue the field of veterinary oncology thus facilitating advancements in the treatment and compassionate care of companion animals. Award: This Award recognizes veterinary student leaders and promotes lifelong professional service.
