Word from the Dean





Ah…The beginning of another academic cycle; faculty are returning from well-
deserved vacations, and some staff are just beginning to fit theirs in; new faces
suddenly appear to inform you that the first-year class is here; and your commute to
work gradually becomes more difficult.
It seems like it was only yesterday when we said farewell to the class of 2017. By the
time of graduation in May, 90 percent of the class was employed and 94 percent of the
class had passed the North American Veterinary Licensing Examination (NAVLE),
compared to a national pass rate of 95 percent. As usual, there are already individual
standouts and their accomplishments bode very well that our arduous expectations
will be met.
