She received her PhD degree in Neuroscience, aslo from Karolinska Institutet. Dr. Vukmanovic Nosrat analyzed the expression of neurotrophic factors in the taste system and teeth, the interactions between dental pulp cells and motor neurons after spinal cord injury, and the possible life promoting effect of dental pulp cells on dopaminergic neurons. She also studied the gene expression in transgenic mouse-lines overexpressing BDNF in their taste buds, its innervation and morphology. In 2012, Dr. Vukmanovic Nosrat joined WesternU and her research interest focuses now on prevention of chemotherapy-induced taste dysfunction.
