Growing up in rural Minnesota, I was surrounded by cattle, horses, cats, dogs, pigs, poultry, etc. My desire to go into veterinary medicine stemmed from observing a bovine C-Section at a very tender age. My favorite critters to work with are horses, goats, donkeys, camelids and cattle. Some particular areas of interest are neonatal care, ophthalmology, and urological surgeries. I have worked in many different areas with many different kind of clients and patients. My life and path feels like proof that one should ‘never say never’ and that ‘the best laid plans of (mice and) men, oft go awry’. I am thrilled to be part of the Western University family, to be interacting with students and to be living in a warm climate! Outside of work I enjoy outdoor activities such as hiking, riding horse and cycling. I enjoy traveling, cooking and good wine. My animal family consists of a German Shorthair Pointer named ‘Strider’ and a Thoroughbred gelding named ‘Rohan’.
